Getting to Know Dr. Aaron Hilliard
Aaron L. Hilliard graduated from Florida Community College at Jacksonville in 1989 with an Associate in Arts degree. Dr. Hilliard continued his educational quest at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) where he received his Bachelor in Science degree in Biology. Dr. Hilliard attended and obtained his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Pharmacology/Toxicology from Meharry Medical College, where his dissertation work was primarily focused on environmental health issues in children, specifically the effects of developmental lead exposure on the developing brain.
Dr. Hilliard participated in several honor society associations including the Ronald E. McNair Scholars program, Marc Scholars, and the MPGE program. Dr. Hilliard is also a member of the Society of Neuroscience, Society of Toxicology, Florida Environmental Health Association (FEHA), and the Leadership Jacksonville Initiative.

After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Hilliard continued his research focusing on children and the environment at the John Hopkins School of Public Health, Department of Environmental Health Sciences, and Division of Toxicological Sciences. Dr. Hilliard has published several publications related to developmental neurotoxicological effects of lead, and other chemicals impacting the environment.
